PEMF and the effects on Cancer cells

Published on 3 April 2024 at 15:47

Cancer is a collective term for a range of related diseases. A typical feature of cancer is that the cells begin to divide without stopping and spread to the surrounding tissue. The main therapies for cancer are Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Surgery and a combination of the three. Since the 21st Century research on bioelectromagnetics has gotten broader.  Research includes electromagnetic radiation protection, and electromagnetic biological effects. PEMF related studies are classified as inhibiting cell proliferation, directly killing or inducing apoptosis, altering cell cycle, and affecting cellular pathways. When PEMF acts on the cell it will first change the cell membrane transport capacity, osmotic potential and ionic valves.  It will also cause changes in the mitochondrial protein profile. In terms of the nucleus, PEMF can repair DNA conformation, cause modulate gene expression, influence mitosis, and chromosomal aberrations. The action of PEMF decrease cellular stress factors and increase energy demand. This series of reactions will eventually lead to apoptosis.
